Maternity Photography in Los Angeles

Pregnancy changes quickly, and before you know it, this chapter is over. A maternity session gives you a chance to slow things down for a little while and create beautiful photographs of you—and the people you love—before your family changes forever.

Whether you envision something simple and natural, dramatic and editorial, or somewhere in between, we’ll create a maternity session that feels like you.

You don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need to be comfortable in front of a camera. And you definitely don’t need to have everything figured out before you arrive.

I’ll help with all of that.

Your Maternity Session

If the thought of being photographed makes you a little nervous, you’re definitely not alone.

Most of the people I photograph aren’t models, and I don’t expect you to walk into the studio knowing what to do.

I’ll guide you throughout your session—from how to stand and where to place your hands to small changes in posture, expression, and body position that make a big difference in photographs.

We’ll take our time, try different ideas, and look at images together as we shoot.

There isn’t one “right” way to do maternity photography.

We can create several different looks during your session so your final gallery has variety while still feeling cohesive.

What Should I Wear for Maternity Photos?

Simple & Natural

A fitted dress, bodysuit, jeans, a simple top, an oversized button-down shirt, or even beautiful fabric draped around the body can create timeless photographs that keep the attention on you.

Elegant & Timeless

Long dresses, fitted gowns, flowing fabrics, and classic silhouettes can create a softer, more polished maternity look.

Editorial & Dramatic

Want something a little different?

We can play with dramatic fabrics, stronger lighting, bodysuits, silhouettes, and fashion-inspired styling to create maternity portraits with a more editorial feel.

Not Sure What to Bring?

Don’t worry.

We’ll talk about the look you want before your session, and I’ll help you figure out what will photograph well.

If you’re deciding between several outfits, bring options. It’s always better to have too much than wish we’d brought something else.

Partners & Children
Are Welcome

This Is Their Story Too.

Your maternity session doesn’t have to be only about Mom.

Partners and children are welcome to join you, and I highly recommend including them for at least part of your session.

We’ll create beautiful portraits of you on your own along with photographs of you together as a couple or family.

And if you’re bringing a little one who has absolutely no interest in following our carefully planned photoshoot?

That’s okay, too.

We’ll work around them.

Sometimes the photographs that don’t go exactly according to plan end up being the ones you love the most.

You Don't Need to Know
How to Pose!

Seriously.
That's my Job.

Maternity posing is often about very small adjustments—changing the position of a hand, shifting your weight, turning your shoulders, adjusting your chin, or moving toward the light.

I’ll guide you through all of it.

You won’t be standing in front of the camera wondering what you’re supposed to do next.

We’ll also look at photographs throughout the session, so you’ll be able to see what we’re creating and we can make adjustments together.

The whole experience should feel collaborative, comfortable, and—believe it or not—fun.

Good to Know

Maternity Photography FAQ

A few answers to common questions about planning your maternity session.

I generally recommend scheduling maternity photographs between 28 and 36 weeks, when your belly is beautifully defined but you’re hopefully still comfortable enough to move and pose.

Every pregnancy is different, so we can always adjust the timing when necessary.

Ready when you are!

You'll Never Be In This
Moment Again

Right now, it’s easy to think you’ll remember everything.

The shape of your belly. The anticipation. The way your partner looked at you. Your child’s excitement about becoming a big brother or sister.

But life moves quickly.

Before long, the baby you’re waiting to meet will be here—and somehow that tiny newborn will turn into a toddler, then a kid, much faster than seems possible.

Your maternity photographs give you something tangible from the time before you met them.

And someday, you’ll get to show those photographs to the little person who was right there with you all along.

If you’re ready to create something beautiful from this chapter of your family’s story, I’d love to photograph it.
