You don’t need to walk into the studio knowing what to do with your face, your shoulders, your hands, or anything else.

That’s my job.

I’ll guide you throughout your actor headshot session, from positioning and posture to expression and the small adjustments that make a big difference on camera.

We’ll also look at photographs together as we shoot. You’ll be able to see what’s working, we’ll make adjustments, and we’ll keep going until we’re creating images that feel right.

The session should feel collaborative—not like you’re standing alone in front of a camera hoping something works.

It needs to get someone’s attention while still giving them an honest idea of who is going to walk into the audition.

That’s why I don’t want to over-style, over-pose, or over-retouch you.

We’ll concentrate on the things that actually matter:

Expression

Small changes can completely change the way a headshot feels. We’ll work through different expressions and energies rather than repeating the same smile in every photograph.

Casting

We’ll talk about the types of roles you’re pursuing and create photographs that support your casting without turning you into a character.

Wardrobe

Different colors, necklines, jackets, layers, and textures can subtly change how you’re perceived. We’ll choose options that complement you rather than distract from you.

Lighting & Background

We’ll use lighting and backgrounds to help distinguish your commercial, theatrical, and additional looks while keeping the attention on your face.

Keep it simple.

Your wardrobe should help suggest who you are and where you might fit without looking like you’re wearing a costume.

Solid colors generally photograph beautifully because they keep attention on your face and eyes. Jackets, sweaters, T-shirts, button-down shirts, simple tops, and layered pieces can all work well.

Try to avoid large logos, extremely busy patterns, or anything that immediately becomes the most noticeable thing in the photograph.

Bring Options

Don’t feel like you have to make every wardrobe decision before you arrive.

Bring several possibilities and we’ll look through them together.

If you’re deciding between two shirts, bring both. If you’re not sure whether the jacket works, bring it.

It’s much easier to leave something hanging on the rack than wish we’d brought it.

For acting headshots, I recommend keeping hair and makeup natural and consistent with how you normally present yourself at an audition.

The goal isn’t to transform you.

Casting should recognize you when you walk into the room.

Professional hair and makeup [is available as an option / insert your actual offering], or you’re welcome to arrive camera-ready.

Either way, think polished rather than dramatically different.

Every final headshot receives professional retouching, but your finished photograph should still look like you.

I’ll clean up temporary blemishes, stray hairs, clothing distractions, and the little things that don’t need to be there while keeping your skin and features looking natural.

I don’t want a casting director thinking:

“Great picture. Who is this?”

The person in your headshot should be the same person who walks into the room.

You don’t need an agent, a long résumé, or years of experience before getting professional acting headshots.
