Not everything I photograph fits neatly into a category. Here are a few favorites from along the way—environmental portraits, musicians, dancers, creative projects, interesting places, and the moments in between.
Hi, I’m Jonathan.
I’m a Los Angeles–based photographer, born and raised in California. I started shooting and developing black-and-white photography as a teenager with a Pentax K1000 and a darkroom made available by a local high-school teacher.
I’ve worked across photography, publishing, and print media for more than 20 years, including art and production work with The Los Angeles Times and Backstage Magazine. Today I photograph people both in the studio and on location around Woodland Hills, Calabasas, and greater Los Angeles.
What matters most to me is making photographs that feel like the person in front of the camera—polished when they need to be, relaxed when they should be, and never generic.
